I know — because I’ve been there.

I’m a former multi-location business owner, HR leader, payroll advisor, and operations manager with more than 20 years of experience supporting business owners across a wide range of industries. I’ve owned businesses, managed teams of over 100 employees, overseen payroll and bookkeeping, navigated compliance issues, built recruiting systems, and reorganized operations during periods of growth and disruption.

MJB BackOffice was created to give family-owned businesses practical, hands-on support — without corporate complexity.


My Background

Business Owner

For 10 years, I owned and operated two franchise locations of The Little Gym. I negotiated purchase and sale contracts, managed build-outs and relocations, handled payroll and bookkeeping, recruited and trained staff, and oversaw daily operations and customer experience.

I wasn’t just advising owners — I was one.


HR & Workforce Leadership

Throughout my career, I have:

  • Recruited, hired, trained, and terminated employees
  • Managed payroll for multi-site teams
  • Handled unemployment claims and workers’ compensation
  • Built employee handbooks and policies
  • Managed scheduling, timekeeping, and performance reviews
  • Supported both union and non-union workforces
  • Guided leaders through growth, turnover, and restructuring

In roles such as Director of Finance & Administration and Senior Manager overseeing large teams, I was responsible for the day-to-day administrative infrastructure that keeps businesses running smoothly behind the scenes.


Payroll & Systems Experience

As a Territory Payroll Manager for 5 years, I worked directly with business owners and leadership teams to evaluate and improve their payroll, onboarding, timekeeping, and HR systems.

I’ve:

  • Led payroll system implementations
  • Managed multi-state payroll environments
  • Coordinated benefits administration
  • Migrated HR systems
  • Supported compliance-focused record keeping
  • Worked closely with accountants and CPAs

I am a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor and have managed bookkeeping for multiple businesses.

My background includes overseeing daily operations across multi-industry, service-based businesses, and real estate/property management.

That means I understand:

  • Inventory and purchasing
  • Cash handling and reconciliations

  • Multi-location coordination

A Little More About Me

I live in the Greater St. Louis area and have been active in business networking organizations and Chambers of Commerce throughout Jefferson & St Louis County. I hold a MO Real Estate license, Property & Casualty Insurance license, and Life & Health Insurance license. I am a Certified Quickbooks Online Pro Advisor. I am a member of SHRM and will be SHRM Certified June 2026.

I’m also a CASA volunteer supporting foster children in Jefferson County — helping youth navigate complex systems is something I care deeply about.
